Florida man accused of trying to buy an 8-year-old girl at Walmart, police get involved

PORT ORANGE, FL — A Florida man is alleged to have tried to buy an 8-year-old girl at Walmart on Saturday, according to WBRC.

Tracy Nigh thought she was just making small talk. “It seemed like a friendly conversation. He didn’t seem a threat at first,” she said of the older gentleman who sat next to her at a Walmart in Port Orange Florida.

But the conversation took a darker turn as Helmet Kolb, 81, is alleged to have tried to buy her daughter.

“The first amount was $100,000, the second amount was $150,000 and then the final amount was $200,000, to where I had to then say ‘no,’” Nigh said.

Kolb was arrested and charged with simple battery and false imprisonment.  He is currently out on bond.
