JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office has taken a 13-year-old student into custody after he threatened to shoot up a school on Tuesday.

Law enforcement reported that at around 9:15 p.m. Pleasant Grove High School Administrators notified the Sheriff’s School Resource Division that a student had made a threat to shoot up the school.

Officials said the student made a social media post on Snapchat stating that he was going to shoot up the school.  The post showed him posing with a rifle.  The student was identified as a 13-year-old.

School Resource Officers took the child into custody at his residence at 6:45am this morning.

Deputies were able to locate and take possession of his weapons.  There is no threat to the school at this time.  Prosecution will proceed through Family Court, according to law enforcement.
