JeffCoEd board member won’t resign despite racism allegations
Donna Pike won’t step down, even after three of her fellow board members ask her to do so.
Jefferson County Board of Education Member Donna Pike has said that she will not resign following allegations of racist behavior on social media, BirminghamWatch reports.
Barr drew controversy when she called former Obama Administration aide Valerie Jarrett a “Muslim” on social media; she also shared posts in support of sitcom star Roseanne Barr, who was fired by ABC after calling Jarrett an “ape.”
In a resolution passed yesterday, three of Pike’s colleagues on the board — President Oscar Mann, Vice President Martha Bouyer, and Ronnie Dixon — called Pike’s posts “repugnant to the Board’s values” and called for her to step down.
Pike told BirminghamWatch that she would not resign — but called the situation “a learning experience for me and my family.”
