The family of 65-year-old David Crumbley, who went missing on April 30, is offering a $1,000 reward for information on his location, the Trussville Tribune reports.

Crumbley left his home on Brewster Street in Grayson Valley on a Monday morning for a walk but did not return.

He was last seen on May 1 at the Trussville exit of I-59 close to the YMCA and Birmingham Orthodontics and possibly later that day on Chalkville Road but that could not be verified.

His brother, Allen Crumbley said that he has been known to walk for several miles and usually returns in a matter of hours. He said that David is mentally handicapped and that it can be difficult for him to engage in conversation with strangers. He has been known to help others during his walks, making him familiar to neighbors.

An initial report of him being spotted in Trussville said that he appeared to be disoriented but Allen Crumbley confirmed that he is not.

He described his David as being resourceful and can keep himself fed while away from home. Some of David’s routes take him through wooded areas, he said. It has not been determined why he never returned to his Grayson Valley residence where he lives with their mother.

David is described as 5 feet, 7 inches and weighs approximately 200 to 220 pounds. His hair is long and is a mix of gray and blonde. He has green eyes and was last seen wearing a t-shirt with jeans and tennis shoes.

Anyone with information leading to David Crumbley’s whereabouts is asked to call Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 205-325-1450 or 911.
