Woodfin appoints Shipt CEO, transition committee head to Birmingham Airport Authority

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin has announced four new appointments to the Birmingham Airport Authority’s board of directors — among them the CEO of grocery delivery company Shipt and the co-chair of Woodfin’s transition committee.
Shipt founder and CEO Bill Smith will replace John McMahon on the board. According to a press release, Smith is also a licensed pilot. Earlier this month, Shipt announced that it would accept a $1.76 million incentives package to expand its headquarters in the city of Birmingham.
Bobbie Knight, a retired Alabama Power executive and former co-chair of Woodfin’s transition committee, will take Aaisha Muhammad’s seat on the board.
Regions Band Senior Vice President David Germany will take Michael Bell’s seat on the board, while REV Birmingham Board Chair Darlene Wilson will take the seat previously held by G. Ruffner Page, Jr. A press release from the city describes Wilson as a “rapidly rising star on the city’s entrepreneurial scene.”
“These appointments are an incredibly diverse and talented group of individuals who all carry a great passion for Birmingham,” Woodfin said in a statement.
Birmingham Airport Authority members serve six-year terms.
The Birmingham City Council will hold a vote to confirm Woodfin’s appointments during Tuesday’s regularly scheduled meeting.
