Skeletal remains found in Adamsville identified; no foul play suspected

Family members of Eddie Lee Abbott say they are “grateful” he has been found.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office have identified the skeletal remains that were found off Minor Parkway in Adamsville on Tuesday.

Officials have confirmed that the remains are of Edward Lee Abbott, a 55-year-old white male from Adamsville. Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said that he was identified from orthopedic hardware. He also said that the cause of death is still pending, but no foul play is suspected.

According to the City of Adamsville, Abbott was reported missing “on or about” October 15, 2017.

“The cause of Mr. Abbott’s death remains under investigation at this time,” the city government said in a statement on its Facebook page. “From all of us at the City of Adamsville, we send our condolences to Eddie’s family and friends.”

Ashlyn Nilsen, one of Abbott’s daughters, expressed relief that her father had been found. “”We are grateful that dad is finally home,” she told AL.com.
