Vestavia Hills police officer charged with felonies

VESTAVIA HILLS – The Vestavia Hills Police Department is reporting that warrants were obtained against Tim Burns, a Vestavia Hills Police Department officer, for theft of property in the first degree and violation of the State of Alabama Ethics Code. Both charges stem from a recent internal investigation. The total bond on these charges is $25,000.
Authorities have advised that Burns has been relieved of his duties and has been placed on administrative leave, without pay, pending the outcome of the case.
