Birmingham Police investigating the murder of a transient

Birmingham Police investigating the murder of a transient

BIRMINGHAM -The Birmingham Police Department has reported that detectives are conducting a homicide investigation into an incident occurred Tuesday at 1556 Bessemer Road.

The victim has been identified as Keith Edwards, 42-year old white male, of Thomasville, Alabama.

At approximately 11 p.m., West Precinct officers arrived at the incident location, Young’s Food Market, to investigate a call on a person shot. Officers arrived to find the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Princeton Hospital for treatment, but later died as a result of his injury.

Preliminary investigation revealed the victim is transient and usually loiters in the area. It is believed the victim had a verbal altercation with a suspect just before he was shot outside the store.

Investigators have no suspect information or motive in the incident.
