Birmingham City Councilor Jay Roberson announces resignation
The District 7 Councilor will leave office on September 10.
Birmingham City Councilor Jay Roberson has announced that he will resign effective September 10, BirminghamWatch reports.
Roberson who has represented the city’s seventh district since 2009, said that his wife had been hired by Alabaster City Schools and that he was moving to Alabaster to accompany her.
He repeatedly asserted that he was “scandal-free,” and in a press release said he was “proud of the fact that [he had] honored State ethics laws.”
The city council will begin work on appointing Roberson’s replacement next month.
