Martial arts movie Embattled to film in Birmingham

Martial arts movie Embattled to film in Birmingham

The film will star Stephen Dorff (Blade) and is written by American History X scribe Dave McKenna.

A new film production is coming to Birmingham this fall. The Birmingham Business Journal reports that the martial arts film Embattled will begin shooting in the city in September.

The movie, which follows a high school judo prodigy preparing for a fight with his father, an Ultimate Fighting Championship winner. The film will star Stephen Dorff (BladeTrue Detective season 3) as the father and is written by David McKenna (American History X, Blow). It will also be director Nick Sarkisov’s first English-language movie, according to Deadline.

Embattled will film in Birmingham from September 24 through November 2.

The last major film to shoot in Birmingham, the Aaron Eckhart-starring Live!, wrapped production in June.
