Brother of Birmingham homicide victim arrested, charged with murder

The brother of Dakisha Stutson, who was killed in a shooting on Tuesday morning, has been arrested and charged in her murder as well as the attempted murder of two others.

Detectives from the Birmingham Police Department obtained warrants against Clifford Stutson, 43, of Birmingham. The BPD reports that he is being transferred from the Birmingham Jail to the Jefferson County Jail.

At around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, officers from the North Precinct responded to a report of shots fired at the 1600 block of 25th Street North in Birmingham. Upon arrival, they found three victims who had been shot. Dakisha Stutson was pronounced dead at the scene while the other two were taken to UAB Hospital, one with life-threatening injuries.
