An 18-year-old girl has been indicted in the shooting death of a 17-year-old, AL.com’s Carol Robinson reports.

Faith Jakia Martin was charged with manslaughter by a Jefferson County grand jury for the February 2 shooting death of Michael Lee.

The incident in question, which took place between two vehicles at Birmingham’s McAlpine Park, resulted in Lee’s death. Lee was 17 years old.

Though initial reports had attributed the shooting to an “online dispute,” the grand jury’s indictment chalked it up “due to sudden heat of passion caused by provocation recognized by law and before a reasonable time for the passion to cool and for reason to reassert itself.”

Martin faces between two and 20 years in prison.
