Local boutique owner and fashionista Valencia Peterson is excited to share her passion for fashion with the Clay area.

Peterson says she’s always had an eye for fashion. After working in the corporate world for more than 20 years, she decided to take a leap of faith and open Symply Unique Boutique, which features her very own custom and handmade jewelry along with trendy and edgy fashions — all of which she says have a unique touch of femininity.

“I try to include multiple styles to fit multiple personalities,” said Peterson. “I don’t want to target one group of people, because everyone has a different fashion sense. I have included sizes ranging from small to XXXXL.”

Peterson opened her boutique, located at 5239 Old Springville Rd. The name, she says, “sprouted” from a conversation she had with her oldest daughter.

“We were sitting down together to brainstorm names for my jewelry business,” she said. “My daughter said that I create unique pieces of jewelry, so we came up with the name Symply Unique Boutique. We changed the spelling of ‘simply’ to make the name unique as well.”

Peterson’s boutique also has the long-term goal of encouraging women, she says: “After building my brand and growing the business financially, I want to reach out to women and children centers that have displaced families providing needed encouragement to women who are striving to better themselves.”

Peterson envisions providing full makeovers to women who are trying to get back on their feet through the centers.

“Say, for instance, they know a woman who is really striving to do better for herself by way of job interview needing that extra push or encouragement,” she said. “I want to be the one to help.”

Although Peterson is still finding ways to make this happen, she is already reaching customers who need fashion advice.

Symply Unique Boutique is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, visit the Symply Unique Boutique Facebook page.
