The humorist behind ‘Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim’ brings ‘Calypso’ to Birmingham next year.

With plenty of advance notice, UAB’s Alys Stephens Center has announced that it will host writer David Sedaris in April 2019.

Sedaris is a renowned humorist and essayist whose work has been featured in The New Yorker, Esquire, and on the radio program This American Life. His work is often deeply autobiographical and observational, depicting himself and his family with a wry eye for detail.

He’s the author of several essay collections including 2004’s Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim and 2008’s When You Are Engulfed in Flames. He’s currently touring behind his latest collection, Calypso, which was published in May.

Sedaris will be at the Alys Stephens Center on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 8 p.m. for a reading and book signing. Tickets range from $50 to $70; UAB students gets in for $10. For more information, visit alysstephens.org.
