Birmingham gives spare firetruck to Mulga in show of “regional cooperation”

Mulga Mayor Keith Varner says Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin “really came through” for his town.

On Tuesday, the Birmingham City Council approved an initiative from Mayor Randall Woodfin to provide the town of Mulga with one of Birmingham’s surplus firetrucks, BirminghamWatch reports.

The agreement is part of ongoing discussions between Woodfin and Mulga Mayor Keith Varner on ways to create a “big-brother, little-brother” program between Birmingham and the west Jefferson County town.

“When he found out what needs (Mulga) had, he really came through,” Varner said. “And this new fire engine is huge for us.”
