Homewood to break ground on new public safety headquarters by next month
New building will house police, courts, and more.
The Homewood City Council approved a $21.5 million budget Wednesday for construction of a new public safety headquarters in West Homewood. The Homewood Star reports that construction on the building is slated to officially begin on June 7 — but early work on the site could start “by the end of this month,” according to Police Chief Tim Ross.
The new building will consist of a three-story building that serves as police headquarters, a jail, a courtroom, 9-1-1 dispatch and administrative offices, and more.
