Forrest Gump author to sign copies of new World War II book in Homewood
Winston Groom is releasing latest book, ‘The Allies,’ on November 13.
Winston Groom, the author most known for his 1986 novel Forrest Gump, has announced a visit to Homewood’s Alabama Booksmith in November.
Groom, who currently lives in Point Clear, Alabama, will be reading from and signing copies of his nonfiction book The Allies: Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin, and the Unlikely Alliance That Won World War II, which is scheduled to be released November 13 through National Geographic’s book publishing arm.
Forrest Gump was adapted into a hit 1994 film starring Tom Hanks. Groom wrote a sequel, Gump and Co., in 1995. He has since written a slew of novels and nonfiction works, including The Crimson Tide: The Official Illustrated History of Alabama Football and The Generals: Patton, MacArthur, Marshall, and the Winning of World War II. His most recent book, the novel El Paso, was released in 2016.
