New pizza restaurant to open in old Cosmo’s Pizza location
Chef Ben Vaughn will bring Libertines Pizza Co. to Birmingham’s Five Points South neighborhood.

The Five Points South building that once housed Cosmo’s Pizza will soon once again hold a pizza restaurant, the Birmingham Business Journal reports.
Chef Ben Vaughn, who launched the Mountain Brook eatery Root to Tail in Mountain Brook last year, will be opening the first Libertines Pizza Co. location at the spot in early September. He describes the new business as the “Five Guys of Pizza,” referencing the popular burger restaurant.
Cosmo’s Pizza operated for nearly 30 years in Five Points South before closing in February 2016.
