Mountain Brook gives go-ahead to controversial condos

Despite concerns from residents, the Overton Village condos are coming to Mountain Brook. The Mountain Brook City Council voted Monday night to rezone property for the development, AL.com reports.
It’s a reversal of the council’s denial of the rezoning request in December, which was rejected after residents expressed concerns about traffic problems that could result from the condos, as well as complaints about the proposed buildings’ height.
After developers addressed those concerns, the project was approved.
A part of the property in question is in Vestavia Hills; that city will also need to approve the project.
