Bessemer
Proposed new development could bring 3,000 jobs to Bessemer
The under-wraps “Project Bluebird” will likely be announced within the next 30 days.
A large economic development project could be headed to Bessemer, and it could bring with it between 1,500 and 3,000 jobs, the Birmingham Business Journal reports.
Though specifics of the plan remain under wraps, public records reportedly show that a site near Old Powder Plant Road near Alabama Splash Adventure and Bessemer High School is in talks to become the location of a “well-known” warehousing and distribution business.
The project is being codenamed “Project Bluebird” according to the report. A formal announcement will likely come within the next 30 days, Jefferson County Commission President Jimmie Stephens told the BBJ.
