Homicide investigation launched after victim found lying on the side of the road in Birmingham
BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department reported that detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The victim was discovered on Feb. 2 at approximately 8:29 pm.
Police identified the victim at Christopher Lawson as a 36-year-old black male from Birmingham.
Officers from the West Precinct responded to the 6100 block of Grove Avenue to investigate a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located the victim lying on the side of the roadway next to his motorcycle unresponsive. Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived and pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.
The victim was believed to have attended a party in the area. Investigators do not have a motive for the shooting in this case.
No suspects are in custody. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
