Birmingham to apply for bridge-building grant
Pedestrian bridge will help schoolchildren cross busy railroad.
Birmingham will pursue a grant from the state department of transportation to construct a pedestrian bridge over a railroad track in Titusville, BirminghamWatch reports.
The Birmingham City Council passed a resolution Tuesday authorizing Mayor Randall Woodfin to apply for the grant. The bridge in question will allow students of Booker T. Washington K-8 School to cross the tracks safely on their way to school, according to city planners.
