Murder-suicide in northern Jefferson County leaves 2 dead

JEFFERSON COUNTY — An investigation is underway into a murder/suicide that occurred in the Bagely community on Wednesday morning, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office reported that just before 8 a.m. this morning deputies responded to a report of a man with a gun running along Old Bagley Road. As they were searching for him, they received a report that an adult female had been found shot inside a vehicle at a residence in the 8500 block of Old Bagley Road. Deputies arrived at that location and found a woman dead on the scene.
While on scene an adult male called into 911 and admitted that he had shot the victim. He gave his location at a residence in the 5000 block of Cindy Lane before disconnecting the call. When Deputies arrived they located the male caller inside the home, dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to law enforcement.
Authorities reported that they had information that the couple had just ended a relationship. Names are being withheld pending notification of family.
