Fairfield man found shot to death in Ensley, BPD is investigating
BIRMINGHAM — The Birmingham Police Department is reporting that detectives are conducting a homicide investigation. The incident occurred on Sunday at approximately 8:56 p.m.
BPD has identified the victim as Perry Joe Lewis Jr., a 39-year-old black male, of Fairfield
Officers from the West Precinct responded to the 800 block of 34th Street in Ensley to investigate a report of a person shot.
According to authorities’ officers arrived and located the victim inside a vehicle unresponsive. Birmingham Fire and Rescue arrived along with the Jefferson County Coroner and the victim was pronounced deceased as a result of his injury. A second victim was transported to UAB Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.
No suspects are in custody.
