Hoover schools ranked safest in Alabama
School safety is a “top priority,” says Mayor Frank Brocato.
The Hoover City Schools system has been ranked as the safest school system in the state, according to Niche, a site that researches schools and colleges nationwide.
The ranking is the result of a survey focusing on criteria such as expenses per student, student absenteeism, expulsion, and school-related arrests, WBRC reports.
It’s not the first time that Hoover has been ranked as the safest school system in Alabama. But in March, Superintendent Kathy Murphy said that this would not lead to complacency. ““That’s all well and fine, but no one is deceived into believing that we couldn’t be an exception,” she said. “While we are happy to be acknowledged for some of the really great things we’re doing to protect children… we [could still] face some similar challenges that other school districts have.
“I am so proud of Hoover City Schools for again being named AL’s safest school district,” Hoover Mayor Frank Brocato tweeted Wednesday evening. “We’ll keep providing SROs [school resource officers] to make school safety a top priority!”
The National Association of Resource Officers is headquartered in Hoover.
