ALDOT repairs hole in I-59/20 bridge

The City of Birmingham announced Monday afternoon that the Alabama Department of Transportation needed to perform bridge deck repairs on I-59/20 Southbound — but shortly after that announcement, ALDOT announced it had already completed the project.

The “emergency” repairs were to install a steel plate covering a small hole over the Southbound Civic Center Bridge; the center and right lane of the southbound lane was closed while the repairs were completed.

The construction a short distance away at the interchange of I-59/20 and I-65 is ongoing and will continue through 2020.
