Power outages impacting thousands of customers in Birmingham Metro Area

JEFFERSON COUNTY — According to social media posts from Alabama power over 118,000 customers were left without power after storms moved through the northern half of Alabama on Saturday.
Alabama Power has also said that, as of 10:30 a.m., less than 23,000 outages remain and that the majority of those are in the Birmingham Metro Area.
The heavy rain and strong winds that moved across the northern half of Alabama yesterday caused power outages for more than 118,000 of our customers. As of 10:30 a.m., less than 23,000 outages remain statewide. The majority of these are in metro Bham.
