Jury convicts man of sex crime against a child under 12 in a Pinson Valley area case

JEFFERSON COUNTY – On Friday a Birmingham man was convicted for sex crimes, committed against a child under 12, in the Pinson Valley area.
Armando Torres Escobar, 34, was arrested in November of 2017 after the victim had reported to her mother that a family friend had been engaging in inappropriate sexual contact with her.
The jury found him guilty on two counts of sex abuse of a child under 12 and one count of sex abuse first degree.
Escobar has yet to be sentenced.
