Federal grant to spend 1.5 million on new electric buses, charging stations for Birmingham
WASHINGTON – The Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority will receive $1.5 million to purchase electric buses and the power stations to keep them charged up, as reported by WIAT 42.
This is part of a larger grant, $84.45 million, that are being dispersed amongst 41 states and issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration.
“FTA is proud to partner with transit providers across the country to support their transit priorities. The participation from our local partners shows a dedication to improving access to jobs and opportunities,” said FTA Acting Administrator K. Jane Williams.
